A recent report from the National Planning Council showed that contracts for some 1,650 projects in Benghazi reached a total value of some LD13.4bn ($10.7bn), or 9.5% of the country’s total.

Libya and Senegal signed a cooperation agreement during the second Libyan-Senegalese joint meeting in Tripoli on 12 January, according to Al Jamahiriya. The agreement covers cooperation in a range of sectors, including joint investment projects.

Libyan customs authorities have removed the entry tax for Algerian citizens that was created two years ago, Ennahar Online, an Algerian news site, reported.

Libya and Sudan have formed a joint committee to help facilitate investment in eastern Sudan, according to Sudan Vision Daily, a Sudanese news site.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi held a meeting in Tripoli on 8 January with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, according to PANA, to discuss the status of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD).
