The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has revealed details about the new quarter-dinar coin, but has not said when it will be issued.
The new coins are to be made of Nordic gold, a copper alloy, and will replace the current versions of the quarter-dinar coin.
It is not clear where the coins will be produced, but Korean firm KOMSCO won a contract in June to mint coins on behalf of the CBL.
The CBL has not yet announced when or if any of the older versions of the coins will be withdrawn from use.
