New cabinet proposal expected today

Libya's Prime Minster, Ali Zeidan, is expected to name his proposed cabinet for approval by the General National Congress today.

The 200-member GNC has already rejected two cabinets proposed by Zeidan's predecessor, Mustafa Abu Shagour, who was removed as Prime Minister by a vote of no-confidence after holding the post for less than a month.

Zeidan was elected on 14 October after a close run-off with local government minister Mohamed al-Harari, whom he defeated by 93 votes to 85.

Several reports suggest that Zeidan will name a cabinet with more than 30 ministers.
