On oil output
New figures from the National Oil Corporation (NOC) indicate that Libya's crude oil production averaged 1.47 million bpd last year, compared to around 1.68 million bpd in 2010.
The NOC said that its share of exports was around 380 million barrels of crude in 2012, with the share of foreign producers reaching 105.6 million barrels and a further 53 million barrels consumed locally. Taken together, the numbers indicate an average daily output of 1.47 million bpd, around 30% lower than in 2010, when it reached 1.68 million bpd, or 616 million barrels in total.
Output in 2011 was severely disrupted by the revolution and reached just 179 million barrels, or 490,000 bpd.
Production is believed to have increased gradually throughout 2012 as fields came back online after the end of the 2011 conflict, but protests, sit-ins and other labour action have had an impact on output and exports.
Other NOC figures showed that Italy was by the far the biggest destination for Libyan crude in 2012, accounting for more than a third of all exports, with China in second place and France third.
