Public holiday after football victory
The government declared a Sunday 2 February an official public holiday after the national football team won the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Libya beat Ghana on 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 0-0.
The tournament was held in South Africa, after it was originally intended to be hosted by Libya.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided against Libya hosting the competition due to security concerns.
Libya is still due to host the 2017 African Cup of Nations competition, the continent's largest football tournament.
It was originally scheduled to host the 2013 edition before the revolution forced the organisers to move the event, also to South Africa.
CAF then awarded the 2017 games to Libya, but with ongoing security problems in the country the tournament risks being relocated once again.
